Which passport is best?

Travel Forums Asia Which passport is best?

Hi

I am in the unique position of having dual citizenship (i.e. i have two passports). when in europe i use my italian passport, when in africa i use my south african passport.

Has anyone any advice as to which passport would be easier to travel on in Thailand and Cambodia? Are there differences in terms of visa costs (like in jordan SA passports are free but EU and US pay bigtime)

Is there any bad feeling toward EU tourists etc?

thanks

I travelled to Thailand on a European passport and it's no problem whatsoever. You could always take both and see at the airport there which one you are entering the country with. I have two passports and do the same sometimes. The one time I travelled without both, I ended up not being allowed into Indonesia because I only had my dutch passport on me (without a visa). With the other passport I wouldn't have had a problem

whooaaa!! so indonesia have a problem with dutch passports??

well i kinda have to use the SA passport to leave and enter SA anyway, we got a new weird law this end.. we have to use an SA passport to enter and leave South Africa. wecan use whatever passprt we want outside the country (which means i got a whole bunch of south african arrival and departure stamps in my SA passport.. but i never seem to go anywhere, since i don't have any stamps for arriving or leaving anywhere else... it confuses the immigration guys sometimes )

Tell me about it. Countries and their stupid immigration laws.... !!

In 2004 Indonesia didn't let those on Dutch passports into the country (among with tons of other countries actually) without a proper visa which you could only get off shore. Not sure how it is today :)
