Hi all,
Have you ever gone through a phase at work where there seems to be loads of politics in the air and lots of up-heavel! I can't be bothered to turn up everyday and listen to everyone moan and backstab!I've never pulled a sickie before (unless I have been genuinely ill)How wrong do you think it is to have a week off just because your 'sick' of work? Also what is the worst excuse you have made or heard to have some time off?

Kelly

Awww, Im not big on drama, so if Ive got sick of a job or the people or the politics, Ive simply moved on and found somewhere else....Ive always seen it as a sign that if I find the drama boring and tedious that its time to call it a day!Thats just me though!
As for the excuse for a week off...I say go for it!!!If youve never blagged a sickie before then I think now is the time, you deserve it so you dont need to justify it!Some people do it all the time, so just take what youre owed!Dont feel guilty about it, lifes to short to worry...if you fancy time off them take it!!!!
Have a fun week!!!

As a dept manager - it would put me up sh*t creek if one of my guys did this - l would much prefer they came and spoke to me about the problems and atmosphere so l could do something about it, cos a week off on the sick isnt going to change the situation.

Thats just my 2 pennies worth - responsible adult yadda yadda yadda!

I called in sick one weekend because I was going to Paris on a school trip. But then my boss found out cause she called my house and I almost got fired. I was lucky they really needed the staff and she couldn't afford to lose me.

Technically you are genuinely ill or 'sick' if you're sick of work.

I know people who pull sickie's all the time, it just saves on taking their normal holiday time.

Just think of it this way, you don't get paid when you work over your lunch hour or when you have to spend a 10-15 mins after contracted hours to finish things. So a sickie is just taking back what is owed to you! If you don't do either of those mentioned give yourself a pat on the back and pull a sickie anyway.

The last year of my previous job I took a lot time off sick, it was clearly down to being unhappy, the job depressed me so much. the slightest sniffle and I'd ring in!

The best illness is something a little bit embarassing like sickness and diahorrea...But never on a monday morning.

haven't pulled a sickie in about two years but even now when i am off sick or even on a holiday off they still ring me at home with questions so its just not worth it really.... but i always find the best 'sickie' excuses are stress and womens problems (thats covers so much!)..

Purdy: "SHUT UP & GET BACK TO WORK. IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT HERE, THEN LEAVE"
