RTW tickets - changing outward departure date?

Travel Forums Round the World Travel RTW tickets - changing outward departure date?

Hi,

Not sure if anyone can help me. My boyfriend and I are planning a RTW later this year, but are having to wait for my work to make me redundant and they keep switching the dates.

If we booked a RTW ticket (we are looking at World Discovery Plus), does anyone know if we would be able to change our outward travel date from the UK and how much would this cost?

Thanks for any help!

Donna

In our case (through Trail Finders), we paid a deposit to hold the flights but can still change the dates. However, when you have paid the full amount for your ticket - it will then incur a cost to change dates.

Hi

Linger is right, we've paid the deposit for our flights with a leaving date of 3rd Sept. We can still change the dates of any of our flights at the moment, but as soon as we pay the full amount (10 weeks before departure) we will be committed to the first outbound date.
I think this is pretty much how it works on all tickets, and from all agents.

I suppose if you're not certain of your leaving date yet it might be worth leaving it until your company have sorted themselves out. No point in throwing good money down the drain when it's all extra cash for while you're on the road!

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info. I gave travelnation a call (who we are thinking of booking with) and they said if we've paid the deposit we can change any dates free of charge, including the outward departure date. If we have paid the full amount we will be charged £150 to change the outward date.

We are going to leave it as long as possible to book, we are just worried about the Chile to Auckland leg getting fully booked the closer we get to departure. Also worried that even if we leave it as late as possible my work will AGAIN change their mind about the end date!

Thanks for the advice!
