Anyone any views on this budget hotel - costing us Aus $ 145 for 3 nights over new year and $110 for 2 further nights - ensuite double room continental breakie too.

Reading on trip advisor - reviews so so - but lm not expecting 5 Star luxury and it seems pretty central on a plus side its got a pub below it!!!

Plus will be staying over New Year so intend to be soaking up the atmosphere and not worrying about a hotel room!!

I used to take the bus by this place all the time, but have never been inside; sorry! Some might consider it a plus that the downstairs floor is a pub.... others mightn't :)

I think I might know someone that stayed there though. I'll check with him and let you know either way.

Is it in the city? If so, I'll go have a look one lunchtime and let you know.

Just checked address - 42 Wentworth Avenue - is that central? Thanks for help!

It's very central (near Hyde Park) if my memory of this place serves me correctly.

On another note, I checked with my friend that stayed there and here is his quick 'review' (he was there around the middle of December 2005)

Hi Sam, I stayed for 5 days and it's midragne both price- and luxurywise.

Breakfast included in a nice café and a bar/pub with sport, food, gaming, bottleshop and cold beer. Walking distance from city, railwaystation, Chinatown and Hyde Park. Shower, toilet, coffee and telly in the room.

Perfect for my needs, didn't stay in the hotel much anyway!

This sounds perfect for our needs - l just need a bed at night and somewhere to wash!

Thanks!
