Hi Etienne,

I travelled the west coast of the US for four weeks once and have spent more time in the USA. Are you going there or Canada? And do you have to book accommodation yourself the whole way or do you have any places to stay? What kind of a trip is it going to be?

Some more info and I would be happy to try and help

The best trips are the no accommodation costs ones aren't they

NYC can be pretty expensive depending on both your shopping tastes and what you want to do in the eves. You could do it for 40 USD a day, but also 100 USD a day. Of course with friends who probably don't want to spend heaps in those days as it isn't a holiday for them, I would guess 50 USD a day will keep you having a wonderful time. Any real shopping not included (as my girlfriend would say!)

Never been to Montreal/Toronto, but from what I hear from old Canadian roommates and the like, it is at least 1/3 cheaper than the US. And not to mention that the drinking age is 18 compared to most of the US where it is 21.... it's weird that you have to consider that (I live in Holland and it is never ever checked although officially the age is 16 and I suppose being from NZ you don't have any real issues with this either).

Hope this helps (although it isn't that much....)!

Have fun, sounds like an awesome trip!!!!
