Gill99 has indicated that this thread is about Thailand

Hi there

Im travelling to Cambodia for a week & then onto Thailand for a week with my friend in the next few weeks.

We are really struggling to decide on what beach to go to - she doesnt want to go to Ko Samui/Phangnan as shes been there before and ive been to Ko Phi Phi & Krabi (though not to all the beaches there.

She has also been too Ko Chang & Ko Samet!

Can anyone suggest anwhere??? We want to chill but would like somewhere where we can do a spot of diving and has got a few bars!

Also has anyone been to Khao Lak recently as it was a thought as its near the Similon islands though obviously i know it was badly hit by the tsunami..

Any advice would be greatly received!

Many thanks

What about Phuket? Plenty of options there. We stayed at patong beach. Fantastic and allot of nightlife and beaches around here. a very good and happening place.

What about going to Sihanoukville while in Cambodia? Nice sand, clear, warm water for swimming or diving, some nightlife up on Victory Beach Hill. Worth a few days at least if you have time to spare while in Cam.

given your scenario, dont even think of going to Phuket.....best option is to go to Koh Tao!!! and trust me all the travel gurus will agree with me.

cheers,

Koh Tao is nice... good for dive and little nightlife...
Koh Lipe (further down south)... you will love it!
Koh Surin...very nice but no bars!

  • I've been to Khaolak in December last year, covering the story of 1 year tsunami. You can find many places to stay, I think people there need some support from tourists. If you don't mind seeing some wreckage while chilling on the beach, it's nice to have a visit.
