The passport didn't always work, and Davis found himself in jail dozens of times. He's also been convicted of fraud for selling the world passport, and some have accused the WSA of making money off of refugees or would-be emigrants.
yikes...it still sounds like a cool concept, if only it didn't involve a visit to a Pakistani jail when trying to use it...
I think its a ridiculous idea and I hope it never gets off the ground. It could never possibly be "world" in the true sense of the word. The world is in a constant state of change, which means the passport would be valid one day, and invalid the next. I do understand the idealism of those who consider themselves "citizens of the world" just because they travel a lot and would just love to flash their "world passports" around. Reality check worldies, you're a citizen of the place you're a citizen of. I for one don't want world citizens claiming any sort of rights to citizenship in Australia just because of some document the size of a cigarette packet.
I have respect for the current passport system; it has value and meaning. A world passport carries no weight.
Posted a few days too early for April Fools ?
Ha ha, what a classic! I actually deliver training on travel documents and I use the World Service passport as an example of an unacceptable travel document. I know that previous postee's have already told you, but take it from me, there is no rational country in the world that would accept a "world passport."
there is no rational country in the world that would accept a "world passport."
No rational countries either
there is such a thing as the World Passport, i know someone that interned for them.
it's some american dude, bit of an idealist, who believes that we've all citizens of the WORLD. so he surrended his american passport and made himself a World Passport, that is suppose to gain him entry to any country in the world. and etc.. it's now usually used for third world political refugees...
the world passport HQ is in DC.
i think it's a good idea in theory but never going to work in practice, much like communism.
