walkabout has indicated that this thread is about Austria

Hi there,

I am new around these traps and was hoping i could get some advice. Am currently in Switzerland (tho i am an Australian) and plan on travelling down to Austria. I plan to go for a week (in May), and focus mainly on Innsbruck and Salzburg.

Does anyone have any suggestions as for things to see/do, places to stay, tips, etc. Any info would be very helpful,

Cheers :)

hey

what kind of things woould you like to know?

~ what are you interested in (nature, museums, going out,...)
~ how much money do you want to spend (since you are in Switzerland now, I can tell you that things are quite cheap in Austria)

Hi, wow that`s awesome - thanks for your replies :)

Am mainly interested in the cultural side of things - museums, seeing places of interest, etc. I know that Salzburg is having big celebrations for Mozart this yr, but i don`t know much more besides that. Am also interested in the nature side of things, and fun things to do, or maybe just unusual things - anything really

And yeah, u are right Sugarplum - i think after Switzerland`s costs any other place will seem cheaper! Am on a mid budget.

Thanks in advance!

4. Mirabel Gardens
5. Sound of Music Tour (take Bob Tours)

Hope this helps

Wow, this is difficult. I lived in Innsbruck, but I don't remember what was best...

Try this:

Like that you really find what you're looking for. Really nice bars and caf├ęs are in there... I was surprised.

If you want some specific! advice or you have problems, write me a mail.

I can live with "wonderful"! ;)

@walkabout:

If you don't want to spend that much money, but you want to see innsbruck from above, take the tram nr.1, stubaitalbahn. It's very cheap, i think. well, yeah, you see innsbruck for only about 1 min, afterwards you are on the "bergisel" with the ski-jump. Then it goes into the valley. There is a lot of forest, but i enyoyed it (it was winter, a lot of snow...);

its nothing very special, but its near and cheap. and thats always great!

Yes, I think there might be a reason why people drive more than 2 hours to go shopping in Austria...

On fridays and saturdays I can't go shopping anymore. Swiss people hog all shops!
