Hi Guys,

Any recomendations for travelling in India. Im ariving on the 4th of April. I was there breifly before and visited Varanassi, Dehli and the taj. I wanted to head to the beach (goa) and hampi but will it be too hot? i would also like to get in a 8-10 trek in the hymalayas. I have a fairly good budget so could include flights where required. Any people out there with a lot of experience of India? Would appreciate a little help as i can get a guide book at the moment. Im in myanmar!

Many thanks

It is not too hot nowadays tho the summer is starting. I am an Indian in Mumbai and my tolerance to heat is high but I still think that days ahead will be hotter and this is the not the worst time to visit India. Goa being on the seashore is never cold, only hot, hotter and hottest.
As to travelling in India, air travel is definitely more preferable nowadays with budget airlines, although trains, especially upper class ACs, are relatively running empty before the summer rush which should start in 2nd-3rd week of April.
Around Mumbai (Bombay), I think one should see the Ajanta and Ellora caves, they are really worth the trouble travelling. Also newer beach resorts opening in Konkan, ie southern Maharashtra before Goa, are worth a try being relatively free from tourists. Maybe Maharashtra Tourism- MTDC will help you there.
As for Himalayas, the best option would have been Nepal but with current situation it is better avoided, Uttraranchal perhaps?

Pravasi, Many thanks for the reply and the advise. I have been to Napal before and was a little worried about returning giving the current situation. I hear Ledak is beautifull for trekking. with regards to the heat: I'm Irish so anything above 20 degrees is hot for me (lol). At the moment its nearly 40 here so I guess i should be fine.

Good that you have chosen to visit India again.

Goa would be hot ofcourse but still you can try. Hampi would be too hot for you but one of the best places to visit and not to be missed, i think.
If you are interested in Trekking , head for Leh, the capital of LADAKH region. You can go on trekking either on 2/5/7/ 10day trekking. It is really wondeful to trek in that region as you will be cut off totally with outside world and you will be in the nature's lap.Did trekking last year and if you need some pic that i have taken i can send them to you.But iam not sure if Aprol is a good season fro trekking or not as i did in early Sept. Normally people trek during July-Aug, i heard.
Suggest you to take a flight from Delhi to Leh and while returning from Leh,take the land route which will be amazing and stuning!

If you need any further information, pls let me know.
