As mentioned in a different thread:

Has anyone brought along a digital camcorder? I would like to record video as well as taking pictures. Whats a good camcorder thats small enough to carry in a backpack?

Sorry, can't tell you much on this one now, as I'm in a hurry to go to bed (YES, I DO SLEEP!).

sweet ! How much can you fit on a 30GB drive ? What's a good lens (f1.2 seems nice)? Battery life ?

I have a Sony handycam TRV22E, model discontinued, takes minidv tapes up to 90 minutes. The battery that comes with it is okay but I bought a different one and get more than two hours continuous filming(never actually tested it for this length, just for 70 minutes in two 35 minutes spells) but there is an onscreen indicator of battery life.Nice clear playback on he built-in LCD. Picture quality is excellent, sound is good, picks up a lot of local sound, be careful on windy days if you want to record conversation etc. Good for low light, will even take video in complete darkness, as long as you don't mind everything looking green.
