Hey all, I have to keep reading these posts because it keeps me going, especially all the people going on their own and feeling the same way! Only just split up with boyf, and cos I gave up my job and flat to move in with him i have no ties now and can do this! Still feels unreal though as not booked flights yet and need to do this! Does anyone know of any good websites for cheap flights. My bday is 27th June, so wanna stay for that and leave literally just after, so end June/beg July. I was thinking flights might be cheaper at this time as flying to Sydney it will be their winter - dont know if that's strictly true.. anyway, if anyone is in the process of booking - or is leaving around similar time, let me know!!

YES of course you should still go. you will meet so many other people in your situation while your here especially if you stay at backpackers. Australians are v.friendly and you will have a great time!!!

You'll be fine.

Australia is a great country. If you go there and keep your head on your shoulders, use common sense, and travel smart, there is nothing to worry about. It is full of amazing people. I wouldn't hitch-hike while there though, as I was warned not to when I lived there. New Zealand on the other hand is more tolerant of that kind of behaviour. Read up on the country and where you want to be. Be aware of the spider and snake situation, and don't put your hands or feet in dark places.

If you have any specific questions please ask.

Cheers!

Great backpacking advice:

hey I'm a 20 year old girl and Im going to oz myself in feb 07. I travel almost everywhere by myself and meet people. I have been in paris for a year and from here have traveled all over europe on my time off. Its amazing going by yourself, no one to answer to and you meet so many people and get to do everything on your own schedule..eat, sleep, romp around. Australia will be amazing by 'your lonesome'. boyfriends?! who would ever want to go with their boyfriend. he was stupid anyways, i can tell. haha Do you know how many gorgeous men are in australia!!!! You will meet tons of great people. good luck with your travels. ;)
