Im not the most adventurous people when it comes to food but my boyfriend ate a seahorse in China. They were selling them at a market all fried and on a stick just like a kebab. Needless to say, he wasn't impressed and said it tasted like a mouth full of sand. Is it really surprising???

In Vietnam we stopped for food on a street stall and got chatting to the vendors despite not being able to understand a word each other said. We were given some small'meat' balls for free and having to be polite ate them. We were later told they were probably eyes. Glad I wasnt told that at the time!

I've eaten a lot of weird and unusual foods around Asia and the world. I've made a blog devoted to these dishes -- big fuzzy spiders in Cambodia, fish poop in the Philippines, etc...

Yo weirdmeat, that's cool! It also completely belittles this whole forum topic hahaha. Great site though - I'd recommend it to others on here if they are not squeamish and like to see what weird culinary delights can be had around the globe.

Am going to be a bit weird but we do eat snail, frogs, horse, steak tartare, black pudding on really regurlar basis at home. What I had problem to get used to is Vegemite on toast. Even if I take it for breakfat, I had to say it took me a while.

I can't get enough Vegemite and Marmite - my flatmates make fun of me because my favourite sandwich is cheese and Marmite

Aside from my love of Marmite-like spreads though I'm a very fussy eater and a vegetarian, so I guess the weirdest thing I've ever eaten is multi-coloured tye-dyed bread in Florida...

i was travelling in spain last year and i happened to try "huebos rotos", which is a dish consisting of potato chips with eggs over easy on top, and bacon bits sprinkled over top of that... it's not "weird", but it's the combination of the 3 things that was strange...
i also tried a mexican meal consisting of corn on the cob, with mayonnaise spread over it, rolled in feta cheese! most of my friends cringe when they hear me explain it, but not one of them has yet to dislike it once they've tried it! it's my favourite food now!!:)

fish poop???!!! You can't eat Excrement! Surely!!!

The grasshoppers in cambodia were Ok but I didn't know how to tackle the beetle things? I watched a policeman in Thailand wating a huge cockroach (*shudder*) and he kind of bit into it and sucked out the middle....Sorry!!! It was like something out of "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom"

How does one eat a beetle?

And how is eating snails any worse than eating mussels etc?
