I'm going to be leaving for Europe in less than a month! On my 19th birthday to be exact, and I have a a couple of questions.
Has anyone bought Museum passes in advanced? Is it worth it and what exactly does it help get you in to?
Also, I have been researching Eurorail passes, and I plan to go to almost every country in Europe, but I noticed there are different passes and there isn't just one that covers every country. Can anyone give me some recommendations on the passes I should get (perferably the cheapest way!)
Thanks guys I appreciate any advice!
A little side note: I plan to be there about 4 months
Please give us a rough schedule on where you plan to go to and how long you are going to stay there, we can then comment on it.
I cannot tell you "get this pass" if I don't know where you are going to. We also need to know your budget, so that we can advice you on prices.
BTW, a month of planning is a bit short. Consider that you need to book cheap flights in Europe at least 3 months in advance. Cheap (international) rail tickets (ones that you book in advance via the internet and are cheaper than Eurail sometimes) are also already gone by now.
If you're a student be sure to take a student iD cardwith you, as that will make getting into museums etc a lot cheaper. Some places don't list prices for students but its very unusual for them not to reduce the price slightly if you are one, so always ask for student prices.
thanks for responding. Just so you know, I have been planning this since Decemeber. I've already booked a flight over and most of the stuff is taken care of, it's just the Eurorail and Museum passes that have been confusing me.
I'll be flying to the UK and plan to go to Scotland and Ireland then to France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, and Greece. I also want to go through Eastern Europe - Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Czech Republic. There's a few countries I left off, but that's the general idea of where I'm going.
As for Museums: In Paris is my main concern because I don't want to wait a few hours in lines.
I've been thinking about going away this summer to europe and have looked into the eurail passes. U can get a flexi pass with 10 or 15 travel days. This allows u to travel anywhere in europe, using 10 or 15 days for travel, and u can do it all over a 2 month period. Hope this helps x
