I am planning to head to Australia on my own in mid January 2007. I have many qeustions to ask & this forum is helping me greatly.
I have been looking at flights & the cheapest I can find are with Asiana, I was wondering if anyone else has used this airline before & could tell me their experiences with them.
I would appreciate any feedback you could give me.
Asiana Airlines is a Korean flag carrier and is a Star Alliance member. This means your flight in certain segments could be code-shared (you don't actually fly with AsA even though you've paid your fare to AsA). My personal experience with Asiana Airlines was not quite consistent with what the airlines tried to project and advertised. If you just want to go from point A to point B and don't care what takes you there, then sure, by all means.
My friend is training to be a pilot and he told me that eastern/asian airlines are usually the cheapest.
I went with JAAL this time, they were cheaper but i prefered quantas when i used them before, but it wasnt a bad flight by all means.
The first time I came to Australia I flew with Asiana from Amsterdam to Sydney and apart from a way to long stopover at Seoul airport in the middle of the night (so no point to go and see the city) I found the food and service not fancy, but alright. I remember we also choose them because they were the cheapest but then ended up paying for a return ticket home (with a different airline) as we couldn't extent our six months Asiana ticket. So definitely make sure for how long you want to stay before you commit yourself to certain dates.
Almost forgot, Asiana has one more great feature. Stewardesses are doing aerobics in the aisles and animating people to join shortly before landing. Was great fun !
Thanks for the help folks, think I will just go ahead and book with Asiana, stewardesses doin aerobics in the aisles sold it for me
