We are travelling to USA at the end of the year, my husband 30 years ago was charged and convicted, but just received a fine for growing marijuana in the backyard..
Do Austrlia and USA share information with regard to criminal history..
I dont know whether to risk not saying anything as how trip is all booked and paid for, what should I do?
north america is very strict when it comes to this subject. Especially in your husbands case, he was convicted for cultivating and possession. I would be very careful if you want to investigate this matter and be careful who u speak to. But seen as tho it was over 30 years this is probably a spent conviction, i dont know whether u will need a rehabilitation letter or not.
my understanding is that if you want to enter the usa you have to have no crimal record regardign fraud or drugs.
i have heard of people being put back on the plane when they arrive in the states because they declared that they got arrested when they were 17 for smoking a joint.
i would contact the US embassy..i just got my non immigration visa and the websight is pretty handy.
but if i was you i think i would see if you can change the destination of your trip
