My name is Alicja and I live in Poland. I know that my country is not popular and people around the world doesn't know much about Polad. So:would you like to know something about my country? Ask me,I'll try to anser you. If you want, you can share your opinion about Poland.
Dear Alicja, Hi, have been to Poland before but not since 1991. Am A serious Photographer (but like to shoot cities mainly). I Intend to go to Warsaw again this summer as well as Crakow and up north. What other few Big cities would you recommend for Photography? Not industrial cities but cities that are more like Crakow. Also, I have heard that Warsaw is really turning into a sort of Artistic city. That a lot of creativity is starting to really happen there,. Would you agree? Thank you for you help and offer. BTW. You are a good Photographer, you have very nice Photos. Take Care, Zoom
Im Polish aswell living in Australia. I havent been back to Poland since 1992 and going very soon in May this year again to re-unite with family :-). I understand what you mean by Poland not being very touristy but that could also be for good reasons. I myself know its a very beautiful country that not many people unfortunately havent discovered yet. Even though its sitting next to Germany, its always left out of the picture whenever someone mentions travelling around Europe, sadly :-(.
So in a way, even though it is my country of citizenship and will always love it, it is definately a place worth while visiting especially with the amount of history Poland has.
Im counting down the days until im back there....
Any information or questions feel free to also ask me, however im sure Alicja could answer questions about the country better than i could..
This is my schedule for this summer :
Teu 11/07 : train Berlin - Krakow
Wed 12/07 : visit to Auswitch
Thu 13/07 : train Krakow - Warsaw
Fri 14/07 : Warsaw
Sat 15/07 : bus Warsaw - Vilnius
I will take the day train to Krakow and will arrive at 19:00 in Krakow. Will stay in Krakow at Nathans Villa Hostel. On wednesday I want to visit Auswitsch. I think I will take an organised tour from Krakow. In the afternoon/evening want to see some of Krakow and next day take a train to Warsaw. In Warsaw I will also stay at Nathans Villa Hostel. I want to arrive in Warsaw at about 12:00 so in the afternoon and on friday I want to visit the city. On saturday morning I will take a bus or if there is a possibilitie a train to Vilnius.
I have search all the internet for the travel and now I'm reading books of Berlin. After I finished these books I will read books of Krakow and Warsaw to know more about these cities. Do you have information what to do and what not to do ?? Can you tell me the places to visit ?? Thanx in advance !!
Thaks for Your replies I always send You a particular message on Your posts.
Usually You asked me about beutiful big cities in Poland. You hear about Warsaw(Warszawa)-capital city of Poland and Krakow(the most famous city,it is on UNESCO list). But in Poland I can recommend You my favourite place-Wroclaw and Torun,Gdansk,Poznan.
Also, I have heard that Warsaw is really turning into a sort of Artistic city. That a lot of creativity is starting to really happen there,. Would you agree? /quote]
I can agree with that opinion.Warsaw is a cultural and artistic center of Poland - there are a lot of cultural festivals, galleries, museums.

Thank You very much But I am only a Photographer-amateur
And for auspolak: I think we really should recommending Poland
I'm wainting for questions and opinion connected with Poland.
The Most beautiful parts of the country are in the west i would have to say and also agree, including Gdansk, Wroclaw, Katowice, Krakow, Zakopane is a must see, beautiful TATRY!!
I wouldnt recommend even though its still nice but on the eastern side of Poland, you could say its the poorer side and are very agricultural based cities/towns, although i have some family in Zambrow and Bialystok, very nice but not much to see. For all the beach lovers in Summer head down to Sopot, another must place to visit.
Goodluck to anyone going, let us know how much you loved the place!! :-)
(sorry if you feel im intruding on your post Alicja, just trying to help out :-))
As I write-Wroclaw,Warszawa(Warsaw),Krakow,Poznan,Gdansk are very intersting big cities. And I have forgotten to mention about Zamosc-city in east part of Poland, which is in UNESCO list too.But Poland is not only a cities.Poland it is an amazing country. We have got a lot of Nations Parks, because of oryginal and specific nature.I think the polish see-Baltic See is a greate place to visit, and I agree with auspolak :"all the beach lovers in Summer head down to Sopot, another must place to visit.",but I think there are other towns and places which you should see when you are under Baltic See.I strongly advice you to visit Gdansk and small villages on the Baltic coast. In the north-east of Poland you should visit Mazury-a comlex of natural, beautiful lakes and very unic fauna and flora. Now time for mountains.I like very much mountains,a much more than sees or lakes and I think polish mountains are VERY intresting and beautiful. As auspolak mentioned Tatry Mountains are the biggest one and the most popular one in Poland. The heart of this mountains is a town-Zakopane.In Tatry Mountains is the highest top of Poland-Rysy.But in Poland we have a much more of mountains ranges, for ex.Kakonosze(The Giant Mountains in english)which are popular because of a very unic rocks and beutiful places.Karkonosze are lockated in western part of Poland. But my favourite place in Poland is the most beautiful mountain range-Bieszczady.It is a very wild, clean and amazing place, where you can really relax.I think I recommend you a polish nature events, but its not all.If you have got questions or opinion-write to me or on the forum.
To auspolak about:"(sorry if you feel im intruding on your post Alicja, just trying to help out :-))" -thanks for Your opinion. You are helping me
What else about Poland, hmmm... Well for anyone really that wants to explore Europe, Poland should be definately one of the places marked down on your itinerary. Dont miss out on this beautiful country and do what other tourists do and only stay mostly around western Europe .
If theres anyone else that has more questions ask me or Alicja, its good to get an opinion from both as i live in Australia and Alicja in Poland which gives us a different insight on the country, but still useful information :-).
Fire away anyone......
my wife and i are thinking of backpacking around europe and its surprising to see that people dont actually put Poland in their itinerary, but we are puting that down as one of the places that we'll be spending a lot of time on. Looking at the cost of travell though, its very expensive to travel or buy one of those rail passes so we'e thinking of driving around europe for 7 weeks. Do you think we'll have trouble with a right hand drive car? If so what are the cheaper alternatives.
