Hello,
i've got a question.
30 august i'm going to Poland with a couple of friends. We will fly with ryanair and our plan will land in Gdansk. The problem is that we will be landing in the evening around nine a clock i think. So before i can actually leave the airport it will be around 10 p.m. Is it a big problem to find a youth hostel or anything cheap to sleep in the neighbourhood?
And is there public transport from the airport to "gdansk city"?
Any other hints are always welcome.

Greetings from Belgium
Arne

p.s.: Is it a problem to bring Zloty's with you when you arrive at the airport in Poland because i read something about that on the web. Would they make a problem if you have Zloty's that are worth like 300 euros?

Hi Arne,

I just got back from Gdansk and 10pm is about the time everything seems to shut, although I think you might just make the last bus (10.46pm local time)to the city - Bus Number #B. Time table here - http://www.zkm.pl/eng/indexht.php?roz=b PORT LOTNICZY is the Airport

There doesn't appear to be any problem with bringing cash into the country, I brought 2000Zl for a one week stay, more than enough, I went back after a week with half still intact.

Gary,

The best time to see fall in Poland is october. I strongly recommend You to take a few-days-hike in Bieszczady Mountains (located in south-eastern corner of Poland), however I havn't been there yet, but finally, I am going to go there this fall with some of my friends :))

Why Bieszczady?
The highest peak of polish part of Bieszczady is Mount Tarnica, which rises to a height of 1,346 m. Just above the lower mountain forests (65% of this area), which are made up of beech and fir trees, the Bieszczady Mountains enclose a floor of mountainous pastureland known as poloniny. Here the treeless summits, surrounded by the green forests, create a specific and completely unique aura. During fall time Bieszczady Mountains are changing themselves in an incredible colourful land with beautiful tones of fall. -snip
If You want to see "polish golden fall" and like mountain hikes than this is a place which You should visit!!
Feel free to ask any questions about it. I will try to help.
:)

Hello Alicja
I was in Poland, for a week, around 6 years ago. I loved it. I was in Warsaw, Kracow(excuse spelling) and someplace in the mountains. People were so honest, compared with what i am used to when travelling in other former eastern block countries.

Dear Alicja, Hi, have been to Poland before but not since 1991. Am A serious Photographer (but like to shoot cities mainly). I Intend to go to Warsaw again this summer as well as Crakow and up north. What other few Big cities would you recommend for Photography? Not industrial cities but cities that are more like Crakow. Also, I have heard that Warsaw is really turning into a sort of Artistic city. That a lot of creativity is starting to really happen there,. Would you agree? Thank you for you help and offer. BTW. You are a good Photographer, you have very nice Photos. Take Care, Zoom

Polish city - LUBLIN, very beautiful

Hi Alicja, I'm going to be travelling to Warsaw to figure things out with a girl, but i want to also see the sites. I'm just wondering whats really good to see during the winter. Also im wondering about a National Park that is close to Warsaw, and gives rides on a horse and sleigh for a small price. I'm just wondering what sorts of things i can do while i am there, and any other information you can give me....please get back to me soon...thanx!!!!!
