I lived In LEEDS and really enjoyed it. Lots of pubs and clubs, heaps of young people because of the two Universities and the cost of living is heaps cheaper then London. I reckon that Leeds is the best city in Northern England for sure!!!!!!!!!

the weather is shite in scotland, if you like being depressed 12 months out of the year then go for it, only real sun is in southwest, sure london gets sun, but no beaches to lay on, and i dont think the Thames would be a good substitute, all kinds of icky things in there.

If you're after sun and good weather, then I suggest Australia as a better option. You said England, but I assume you meant the Commonwealth

-snip- The girl wanted tips, not arguments and bitching! Fair enough, you like the southwest, but don't slag off Scotland because YOU didn't like it. -snip-

[ Edit: Let's keep it nice please. There's no need for personal attacks. ]

I've just read your profile Heather and you sound kinda mad (in a good way! ) so I reckon you'd love Brighton! Lots of things going on. Real active music scene, the beach (although pretty cold to swim in), loads of good clubs, a university, etc.

However, you are a Liverpool FC fan , which probably means that you should be up in the North really!

(PS: Go Spurs!!!!!!)

I guess it about remembering the question- Best cities to LIVE- rather than just to visit.

I've made Sheffield my home despite not being from here originally. Here's why:

Its got 2 huge universities, and large student population is usually a good thing if you're young.

Its big enough to have loads to do, but not so big that its unfriendly and to be able to get around without stress. And the public transport is good.

The city has had millions of pounds spent in recent years, and is really booming, especially the city centre.

Yeah, few cities have as many sights of London, but we're talking a place to live, not holiday. It still has great nightlife, restaurants etc and tons of different pubs/clubs/bars etc.

The people in Sheffield are really friendly (honestly this is true take it from an outsider).

Apparantly its the greenest city in the country, it certainly does have lots of trees and parks.

one of the cheapest placest in the UK to live, and has much lower crime than cities like Leeds, Nottingham, Manchester.

The location means its an easy journey to most parts of the UK either by rail or road.

And one of my favourite things about my city is in a 20 minute drive you can be out in the beautiful Peak District!

And this all comes from someone who is usually whinging!
