Hi,
Can anyone recommend anywhere in New Delhi for under £20 please?
I'm looking for more of a hotel than a hostel.
What is the Karol Bagh like?

Hi Rachel,

20 bucks a day is not enough to get a decent accomodation in Delhi, depends on what exactly are you looking at and what time of the year.

If you can throw a little bit more light on this maybe i can help you.

regards,

Vicky

Hiya
we went to Delhi 4 times whilst in India and spent 400rp a night at the Rak International in Pharaganj, not sure if i spelt the area right! thats like 5pound a night, its clean, tv, attached bathroom, its just off the main bazaar, the staff are friendly, espeshially Omiss who will get you a bucket of ice if you want to get some beer or drinks and keep it cool!

have fun!

Try not to stay at Paharganj area as it is mostly infected with touts..Lots of stories about the lodgings from that area.

Karolbagh area is lot better. Also the area has lots of budget eateries, shops big and small and live even up to 11:30pm.
Delhi itself is an expensive area...so better lodgings will cost you more..600 rupees upwards.

Decent budget accomodation won't cost you more then a maximum of 400 rupees (8 euro) for a double in Delhi. In low-season its half that price. Paharganj is the best place for budget accomodation in my opinion (if you ignore the persistant touts which you should just do). I also stayed in Majnu-ka-Tilla (north of Old-Delhi). Its a little tibetan enclave and its very relaxed with some good choice of accomodation and restaurants (very good if you want to avoid the chaos of Paharganj). Hotel Wongdhen house was 400 rupees. The downside is that it is atleast 30 minutes to Connaught place by autoricksaw (if traffic is smooth).
