Has anyone flown with Zoom Airlines before? For those who don't know they operate schedualed flights from Canadian Cities to the UK and France.

Wondering if anyone has had any experience with them, as they seem to have very cheap flights.

Yup! I flew to Belfast (in a roundabout way from Toronto) last year for a whopping $560 Canadian, including taxes. It sounded too good to be true - but the plane showed up and carried us comfortably over the ocean. There's nothing fancy about the flight, and the food is average, but you can bring your own headphones and the service was on par with Air Canada's. For the money I saved, it was well worth it.

how far in advance did you purchase your tickets? Do the prices jump up by alot if you wait closer to your departure date? I notice they don't fluctuate as much as the regular airline's prices!

Hmm. I bought my tickets way in advance - in late spring for a flight leaving in late October. But the prices don't seem to change, they're simply higher during peak seasons. I checked last month for flights leaving in mid-May (which were sold out on the dates I wanted), and they were comparable.

sold out? really? I noticed their premium seats are sold out pretty fast. Is premium worth it?

I couldn't tell you - I only flew Economy class. Lots of people at the counter were upgrading, though. Their Web site shows you the advantages of spending the extra cash.

Hey I just logged back onto their website and the flight I was aiming to book for on May the 13th has changed its departure and arrival times. Is this normal??

Yup! They moved my flight ahead by 3 hours and completely messed up my travel plans. Instead of catching the first train to Paris from Caen in the morning, I had to catch the last evening train and sleep at the airport (not terribly comfortable). However, it's like that with any airline - plus the inconvenience was still worth saving some $400.

I flew zoom about 2 weeks ago from toronto to london gatwick via halifax. what was supposed to be a short stopover (45 min) turned into a 6 hour wait, on the plane. apparently there was engine problems they found only after flying from toronto to halifax and we had to wait and wait until a replacement plane came from ottawa to take us to london. they werent very informative about it at all, kept saying it would be another hour, or another 2 hours, and we didn't get more then a sandwich the whole time we waited. we ended up leaving halifaxc at the time we should have landed in gatwick. of course arriving at gatwick 6.5 hours late. i flew economy, btu the premuim seats arent very much bigger, just a little more leg room from what i saw. although the flight crew was alright. the only reason id ever fly with them again is because they are so cheap. but, you get what u pay for. i paid $266 one way. and they nab you pretty hard for baggage overage. i weighed my bags before leaving, and then when they weighed them at the airport, it was at least 10kg's more! ended up paying a hefty $260!!! ($10 CAD for every kg over)
