I am arriving in Malaysia in a month and then spending a couple of months heading North through Cambodia, Vietnam & Thailand, finishing up in Hong Kong..
I was going to fly into KL but am now undecided..??
I would sooo appreciate any hints on Malaysia as I am a keen beachy/diver and was considering maybe heading straight to the Islands...
Perhentian Island / Tioman Island at the East Coast is where you should go. Nice beach, fanstastic scuba..
And do not miss Malacca if you are keen on historical town and it's really worth for a visit.
If you have more time, a visit to Borneo is absolutely a must!!!(I recommend you that!!!)
Definately do not miss The Perhentian Islands, they are absolutley stunning and great for diving/snorkelling.
Also a must do (for me anyway) is the Cameron Highlands. Great for a few days to chill out, at the top of a mountain so it's a little cooler, see the tea plantations and the chinese temple. There are some great restaurants serving amazing tandori chicken!
Cherating on the east coast is also a great place - huge beach.
hi sher, when you reach Malaysia, to head north to Thailand is not a problem as there is a cheap airline that flys there... check this out:http://www.airasia.com
pulau perhentian is at the east of west malaysia
pulau tioman is at the southeast of west malaysia
really really worth checking out.
