I've got 11 days to get from Santiago to Rio in April as part of my round-the-world trip and want to fit in Buenos Aires along the way. I know it's a bit of a whirlwind tour but does anyone have any advice on how to travel between the three? I was thinking probably bus travel as I can't really afford flights.
Actually, it is pretty easy. from Santaigo you can get a bus to Mendoza in Argentina ( Argentinian buses are excellent!), spend a day wine tasting here. then from mendoza you can get an overnight bus to BsAs - pay the bit extra for a "coche-cama". Connections from BsAs are great - maybe you could go via Iguazu for the fantastic waterfalls.Crossing the border into Foz de Iguacu (Brazil) you can get a bus to Sao Paolo, then go straight to Rio. 11 days should be plenty - but remember that some bus journeys are about 20 hours!!!
Is a long way... but of course you´ll enjoy a nice panorama in the way, Mendoza tu B.A. is around 12 hours, B.A. to Iguazu a little less but cheap and bus services are excellent!! pick up a good book in the way
