I was wondering if anyone has been to Lake Balaton in Hungary. I was just reading about it online. Is it fun for a younger crowd (18-26)?? Is it expensive?? I hear it's a paid beach and you have to pay per foot or something weird like that. Is this true? Anyways, if you could give me any information about it that would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Ironically, I talked to my mum. She went to the Balaton over 30 years ago and still calls it a "piss puddle" and "nothing special at all". The balaton is very flat, so the water gets warm very fast. We saw a recent programme on TV about it, and there where a lot of old geezers hanging around as well as young people. I suppose it is mixed. It's popular with Austrians, because it is still cheap compared to Austria.
If you have to pay for the beach, it will be because the place is official a spa. (Thus also the geezers.)
