If you're staying in Earls Court, you're within 5 minutes walk of Freddy Mercury's house.

It's at 1 Logan Place, Kensington. From Earls Court tube, turn left onto Earls Court Road, then turn left onto Cromwell Road (the large, main road). Logan Place is down a bit, before Warwick Road, but on the other side of Cromwell Road (on the right heading away from Earls Court).

You can see his house, and read the interesting graffiti.

Yes, Cromwell Road is plenty of hotels... If you decide to be near South Kensington try the Grovesnor Kensington Hotel... they say it is a 4 star hotel but could be a low 3 star... prices around 45 pounds, good breakfast, gym... but not very good hotel, but for that price, what do you want in London??

There is a IYHA/HI hostel at Earl's Court, 38 Bolton Gardens. I always stayed there, because I liked the location, but the hostel is in an old house and unrenovated. Grotty toilets, freezing showers, big open rooms, overpriced for a hostel. But cheaper than the hotel!
