Travel Forums Australia / New Zealand & The Pacific Where to stay - Queenstown, NZ

Can anyone advise where we should stay in Queenstown - maybe a B&B or hostel - somewhere which is pretty central and relatively cheap would be good! Was looking a one called Lake Vista B&B which looked ok OR YHA Lakeside in Queenstown.

Anyone any experience?

Although I stayed there three times, I wasn't particularly happy with the YHA Queenstown. The kitchen always lacked cutlery / cups / glasses, and the dorms were cramped. Good atmosphere though.

budget dependant, check out the queenstown website, sometimes its better to stay in arrowtown.

Purdy,

Do me a favour if you go anywhere near Bungy or Bunji Backpackers then give the woman working there Stella Burke my email address.
Phew was she worth staying there for and that irish accent Mmm

If you're looking to stay central I'd look into either YHA (Central or Lakeside), Bumbles, Pinewood, or Hippo. I actually lived out of the Lakeside one for a bit until I found a place to live in town. I think the Central might be a bit dingier, though is located in the middle of town. I don't know too much about the other places other than I had a friend who did housekeeping at Pinewood who said he was always cleaning up after a bunch of drunk backpackers, so maybe it's a bit of a party place? I think Bumbles is a bit more mellow and is located between the Lakeside YHA and town.

Yep i certainly do.
There were 2 irish women in New Zealand i met that i took a shine to but the 1 who was working in the hostel was especially very very nice.
Im back in New Zealand on 19th December for 3 weeks before i go to Oz but at the moment im only planning on staying in Auckland again.

Hey Purdy

When we were in Queenstown we stayed in a place called Pinewood Lodge. It was about a 5 minute walk to the town centre and a really nice place. Good facilities and lovely comfy beds.

Check out their site - www.pinewood.co.nz

Have a fab time!

You're gonna love it!
