Hey all! I've got a few queries as to what to do...
1. basically i'm plannin on backpacking around the east coast, sydney to cairns (or the other way round) and have seen that greyhound buses are around too and not only OzExperience ones... which would you choose, out of them? are there any other companies i should be aware of?
2. i'm a 21 (this summer) female who'll be travelling 24th june- 3rd august, anyone wanna come with me? my mate i was supposed to go with has more or less bailed out on me, so am looking at going solo!
3. any places i MUST and MUSTNT go?
4. i'm hoping to do some scubadiving, am a complete beginner so would like to hear from others who have got good reviews/bad reviews of different places to go to and do a OW course? what kind of $$$ would i need too?
5. thanx for all your help!
About the scuba diving, i dived a few places up the east coast from byron bay up to the barrier reef and i found them to be fantastic. I had a very good time on a liveaboard sailing and diving around the whitsunday islands. if you get chance to, give it a go as i met some great people on board who i ended up travelling up to cairns with, cairns was ok, not alot to do but visit the reef.
Yeah, also on the scuba diving thing- it's a must do! I stayed in a room with two diving instructors up in Airlie beach (near the Whitsundays) and they kept telling me that everyone they took out were absolutely amazed by their first experience and they were right! I felt really sea sick that day and generally crap because of it- but I still had an absolutely excellent time scuba-ing
The instructors can even drag you around by the hand so if you're feeling really lazy you can just float along and let them do all the work. I think it cost me about $80 for my first dive, but I can't actually remember to be honest
At any rate, if you go you'll have a blast!!
