Hi in Sept. I'm going to Ireland. I fly to Dublin and I was wondering if there is a good train connection between Dublin and Cork. Also I would like to know what the cost are for a train ticket. And does someone know a good hostel or bed&breakfast in Cork?

Thanks al lot!!

Yes, the train connections are decent. If you go via Kildare and te Limerick Junction travel time should be around 3 hours. Don't know about the price of the ticket, though.

Tip: When I was there a few years ago buses where cheaper and went further. I really regretted buying an Interail ticket and not a bus ticket for my travels in Ireland. See:

BTW, I sugest you put Kilkenny on your map when you go to Ireland.

Ireland is definitely not Interrail country, that's for sure. Trains usually only service the bigger towns and the lines go kinda starshape from Dublin.
Buses are much better, although slower but much cheaper.
There are regular buses from Dublin to Cork from Busaras (the main Bus station near Connolly Dart Station) and they probably leave around every hour.

I was in cork almost 2 years ago, i stayed at the Sheila Hostel, way up on the hill. it was good location, friendly ppl. Had a kitchen, internet, movies. Not too shabby for a hostel just depends what u prefer, a b&b would be nicer..but more pricy
