Hi to all.

I would appreciate some help and advice on getting to Rangoon (Myamar/ Burma) from Bangkok, Thailand.

Any help and advice on:

1 Where to get visa sorted in Bangkok.

2 How to travel by air

or

3 Preferably, by land would be really cool.

4 Or even by sea (time limiting).

Thanks in advance.

A lot of people asking about Myanmar recently.

Here's what I know, the country is effectively closed as a tourist destination via surface routes.. that is road and sea. You can fly into Myanmar, I am guessing Yangon is going to house the most/only major airport there, but I don't know this for sure.

I actually am just relaying stuff I have heard recently, I haven't actually been to Myanmar in some time now and have only ever been to a few small border towns when I was there.

As far as how to travel there by air, visa requirements will depend on your nationality, other than that it should be as simple as buying a ticket with a local carrier. Thai airways and Malaysia airlines are two that I like if you were asking.

Hopefully someone else can give you a little bit better info as to the goings on there of late and give you some info with their visa process.

Hi there,

Tourist entries by land are effectively closed. You need to get into Burma from Thailand-BBK (Bangkok) by plane...Tourist Visa valid for 28 days, the 3 major cities, you should be able to visit. Do not exchange money with the local on the street market...Mastercard is not accepted anywhere in that country so my advice to you, small pieces, try to get your money before leaving for Burma...Apparently not an easy country but one of the most beautilful in the World..Generally, you can manade to obtain a Tourist Visa form a travel agency in Bangkok for a small commission..to be confirmed.

Enjoy! =)
