Jolo73,

Call me stupid (James probably do) but who is Allen Carr?

I do not want to smoke in the toilet, my religious principles does not accomodate smoking in any toilet. (I am a highly strung Dutch Reformed church member):)

Allen Carr? Never heard of him. Is it a brand of cigarettes?

I think I'd put on one of those patches, have a few drinks, and try to sleep for as long as possible. I'm not sure if this breaks religous principles, but it might be worth a shot

Allen Carr (Im not plugging as I dont know him) has clinics all over the world, books etc hes like a give up smoking guru, who just talks you out of smoking and it really does work.
Its all in your head, you manage to survive in your sleep without a fag dont you?!

Smoker here! (off and on, just more on than off ;) )
I use patches and sleep....then at every available stop I run to smoke. It saves the crew and passangers (seriously...you take your life into your own hands when I am cigaretteless) Hope it helps!
:)

Get a whole bunch of patches, some Xanax or Valium, have some drinks on the flight (they say not to but come on, everyone does) and keep your anxiety down. Another thing is to not sleep for 36 hours before your flight, get some Halcion sleeping pills, and knock out for about 8 to 10 hours. You have to do something and don't get all freaked out about your religion. You won't go to hell for taking a pill, Relax and go to a Doctor with this info......Zoom

Vlakvark, what's worked well for me in the past was a combination of nicotine patches and lorazepam. (See if you can get a prescription for the latter from your doctor.)

Swap the patch out somewhere between 8-12 hours into the flight, since its effectiveness will be waning by then. Lorazepam is usually dosed between 1-3mg for anxiety. 2-3mg every six hours should hold you just fine.

I wouldn't recommend drinking combined with lorazepam, however. Not unless lack of consciousness appeals to you in some way. :)

Lorazepam???? Isn't that Prozac???

Jolo73, can I just ask for how long has Alan Carr's method 'worked' for you?...?

Well I just want to say I am from the same country as Vlakvark, some of my family members are in that same church, and this is the first thing I've heard about any issues like this or smoking in toilets
Unless it is part of some broader principle like 'be considerate to thy neighbours' well I have bad news for you as a smoker you've probably been inconsiderate of your neighbours more often than you'd like to admit

It seems as if this religious thing is getting out of hand now. I must say that it looks as if my sarcastic remark got a bit lost on some of you!

Thabks for the help everyone. I'll try the patches thing with some sleeping pills and a few drinks. Should knock me out for a couple of hours I think.

Yes, that tends to happen around here at times...
