If you are using different airlines, be very wary of connection times under 2 hours. For a medium distance flight (Flight time 2-4 hours), one hour of delay is nothing. For transatlantic flights I experienced delays of 3 hours due to bad weather. I would try to break up the journey into two legs - one from the states to Amsterdam with a possible stopover in Amsterdam, and the next a day later from Amsterdam to Turkey.

You could also try to fly into any other European destination and then use a cheap budget flight to Turkey.

I used http://www.ltu.com/world/ last year. They fly directly to Dalaman from the 1st May onward from Germany and have flights from the US to Germany too.

hey Thanks sooo much for your replys :) you have no idea how much they help :)

Anyway I checked prices direct with Delta and
I was wondering if you think it would be best for me to go from Delta in WV USA to Gatwick LONDON then and then buy my tickets from Gatwick LONDON to Dalaman TURKEY via thomascook and it would be pretty cheap to do so.

One thing I am having a problem with is the time diference (never been good with math)
I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this would be a good choice for buying for the flight:

Departs
CRW
3:01pm
18 May 2006

ATL
4:25pm
18 May 2006 Delta 4353 *
0 stops Coach (T)

ATL
5:45pm
18 May 2006

LGW
7:00am
19 May 2006 Delta 12
0 stops Coach

THEN I WOULD GO FROM LGW with ThomasCook to Dalaman on this:
Going Out £82.99 GBP

Fri, 19 May 06
Flight TCX708K 08:30 Depart London Gatwick (LGW)
14:40 Arrive Dalaman (DLM)

Do you think the time look like I would make the flights? I tried my best to match them

AND THE RETURN FLIGHT WOULD BE LIKE THIS
ThosmasCook£19.99 GBP
Sat, 27 May 06
Flight TCX563L 03:45 Depart Dalaman (DLM)
06:05 Arrive London Gatwick (LGW)

DELTA
LGW
10:10am
27 May 2006

CVG
2:05pm
27 May 2006 Delta 37
0 stops Coach (U)

CVG
6:50pm
27 May 2006

CRW
7:42pm
27 May 2006 Delta 5362 *
0 stops Coach

Well any help anyone can offer would be soooo great, basically i want to make sure I am getting the times right, the differences and changes and that I would make it on time. with the time difference here n there get so confused lol,
Thanks again :notworthy:

You sill haven't understood me - for such a long journey you will need a safety margin of one day or at least 12 to 14 hours in Europe!

If you use a different airline to fly from Gatwick and have bought the flight to Dalaman from Gatwick from a different agency, you'll first have to claim you luggage from your Delta flight in Gatwick and then walk with the luggage to the check-in of that other airline you use to fly to Dalaman.

So you'll need from the time the plane landed in Gatwick 2 1/2 hours at minimum just to change planes! (Half an hour to get out of the plane and claim your luggage, and then another 2 hours for check-in and passport control for that other flight to Dalaman.)

It would make a lot more sense if you stayed one day in London or whereever in Europe to sleep off your jetlag. Then no matter how delayed your Delta flight might be, you won't miss your connection to Turkey.

okay let me try this one more time I am sorry I know I must be annoying you :(

CRW
6:30pm 18 May 2006

ATL7:57pm 18 May 2006 Delta 4352 *
0 stops

ATL
10:00pm 18 May 2006

LGW 11:00am 19 May 2006 Delta 10
0 stops

Then would go

Web fare Adult Regular Fare £82.99 GBP

Fri, 19 May 06
Flight TCX708K 08:30 Depart London Gatwick (LGW)
14:40 Arrive at Dalaman (DLM)

Coming Back

Web fare Adult Regular Fare £19.99 GBP

Sat, 27 May 06
Flight TCX563L 03:45 Depart Dalaman (DLM)
06:05 Arrive London Gatwick (LGW)

LGW
10:10am 27 May 2006

CVG
2:05pm 27 May 2006 Delta 37
0 stops

CVG
6:50pm 27 May 2006

CRW 7:42pm 27 May 2006

would something with a timeline like this work? I am not sure if I amdoing the time diffence between London and USA right though
but if I am right it would give me at least 2yrs inbetween flights right?
Thanks again sorry for the stupid questions again :/

Quoting turkishD

LGW 11:00am 19 May 2006 Delta 10
0 stops

Fri, 19 May 06
Flight TCX708K 08:30 Depart London Gatwick (LGW)
14:40 Arrive at Dalaman (DLM)

would something with a timeline like this work? I

Obviously not, since you cannot arrive at Gatwick at 11:00 am and fly out of Gatwick on 8:30 am on the same day.

My b/f booked on Orbitz and was expected to go from Newark airport in New Jersey to JFK (at his own expense) in 3 hours - that's 3 hours from the time one plane landed to the time the other took off. He e-mailed Orbitz back and forth, and the only response he got (in awkward, ambiguous English) was that 3 hours was plenty of time. He had an exam he couldn't miss, so ended up calling the airline directly to switch flights. They were even nice enough to waive the fee after they learned of his predicament.

Mind, all this was written in small print in the Orbitz agreement before he booked, so it's also buyer beware...
