Is it possible to go from Bariloche to Santiago by bus? Is it beautiful? Can I do the opposite and go from Santiago to Buenos Aires by bus, through the Andes? Do you know how much the bus ticket would cost?

Thanks! Any help is very appreciated!

Both journeys are very achievable.

You can do Santiago-Buenos Aires through the Andes and I would recommend a stop over in Mendoza for a few days along the way. Mendoza is a beautiful city with lots of parques and good wine.

I'm not sure on the Santiago-Mendoza ticket, but the Mendoza-Buenos Aires ticket from memory costs around 100 Argentinean pesos.

Hi.

I was planning to fly from Santiago to B.A. but this bus trip via
Mendoza sounds really attractive. What timescale would you plan for by doing this trip with a few days stop of in Mendoza?

Thanks

5 - 7 days should be enough time to do this overland taking in the best of Mendoza along the way. While in Mendoza do some tours to wineries and into the mountains. Villavicencio and Cachueta are also worth checking out while in Mendoza and you can get a bus to these places from the Terminal de Ominbus (Central Bus station) in Mendoza.

Make sure you go to Ushauhia and the Moreno Glaciar. The moreno cant be miss. I joined you on the Mendoza story, Specially if you enjoy good wine. When in Santiago, spend two days in viña del mar it´s a amazing seaside beach town. Very bulbly due to the university.

hi there - im in Bariloche at the moment and have come down from Buenos Aires. This is a beautiful town and should not be missed on your trip to Argentina! Great adventure activities or great hikes around the lake and through the mountains! I plan to travel up to mendoza from here and across to Santiago from there so doing a similar trip to you in the opposite direction. Buses are great here and are very affordable, each leg may cost between 80-150 argentine pesos.
