I'll be in Italy this summer and am planning a short trip to Paris. Ryan Air arrives in Paris at 2300, so I am concerned about me and my niece travelling within the city that late at night. I understand that we can catch a bus from the airport to the city. Therefore, I would like to stay at a hotel that is a short walking distance from the bus drop off. Please let me know of any nearby hotels or the name of the area (district, streets) that are near the bus drop off.
I really appreciate your help.
There are actually a quite a few bus drop-offs in the city...so you would have to pick if you will be using an airline shuttle bus or one of the many companies at the airport. You could also take the RER commuter train, which would give you access to the entire metro system. Worst-case scenario, you could find a hotel around the airport for that night and get into the city the next day and start your adventure!
Good luck and have fun!
I like staying at the Hotel Royal Saint Michel in the Latin Quarter which is across from Saint Michel Fountain and a stones throw to Notre Dame. The Hotel is steps from both the Train Station and the Metro and in a very safe place of Paris. The rooms are spacious and have balconys that overlook both Saint Michel Blvd. and the quiet pedestrian streets off the main Blvd.
Have a wonderful time in Paris.
Thank you for your help.
I'm planning to catch the Beauvais Airport Shuttle, which makes 4 stops at Arc de Triomphe, Opera, Chatelet, and St Michel. I'm looking for hotels that are less than 5 minutes walking distance from any of these stops.
I'll look into the Hotel Royal St. Michel.
I booked a hotel on Boulevard Victor. I'm planning to catch the shuttle from Beauvais airport to the Porte Maillot metro. Then, I will metro to Porte de Versailles, and the hotel is about 200 feet away. It will be close to midnight. Are the subways safe at this time of night? Do the subways run this late? Is Porte de Versailles generally a safe area?
My back-up plan is to catch the door-to-door shuttle, which will cost about 30 euros more, but may be worth it. Please let me know what you think.
The Metro is still running at midnight but it doesn't run much longer than that, the service stops around 12.45-1 AM but it varies depending on which line it is. So you should be ok getting the Metro and it is generally safe, but just make sure you aren't late! If you are late then there are night-buses and taxis so it's not a disaster.
the saint Michel stop is right in the latin quarter. I will advice you to book in this area as you are at walking distance from the louvre, the river seine and most of the touristic places.
The Beauvais airport is quite far from Paris so you will get into Paris very late.
