I am of on my travels in July or August, I haven't booked my tickets yet. I was planning on starting in Oz, then heading to NZ afterwards, but am now tempted to go to NZ first, and then head to OZ sometime between Jan and March so I am hitting the good weather and can head up the east coast.
So.... my question is, how easy is it to get work in NZ? I know nothing about the place other than it is supposed to be beautiful, so wanted to send out an appeal to you guys for info on the best places to go, and how easy I will be able to find work out there, as if it is not that easy, I won't bother with a working holiday visa and will just stay for less time/
Any comments would be greatly appreciated!

It's pretty easy to get work if you're not too fussed about what you want to do, loads of hospitality work available and plenty of admin type stuff in the cities.
The only difficult time will be when the students are just starting their holidays as they're probably the working holiday makers biggest competition.
But would definitely recommend staying here for as long as you can - NZ is absolutely stunning and the people are genuinely some of the friendliest I have come across.
It just depends on your attitude. If you wanna get work, u'll find it. If you are not too fussy, there's loads out there.'
Just don't expect the best pay...
any other questions, don't hesitate contacting me!
Regardless of attitude, do you think finding a job in smaller cities, like Hamilton, would be any harder than looking for one in places like Auckland?
There's plenty of work in Auckland and yes it will be harder to get work in the small towns, also the pay is better in Auckland. It really depends on what you want to do. Alot of travellers go to the South Island and pick fruit etc. If you go to some job websites www.seek.co.nz or www.netcheck.co.nz and have a look around. I also think and I could be wrong - that there is now a NZ version of The Gumtree www.thegumtree.co.nz which might have casual work listed.
