Hello! Regardless of which way might get the best weather etc what would you say was the best way to go RTW?

East first or west first?

Thanks for all replies.

I went east.
Late January 2005 flew Perth - Sydney - Auckland (one day's rest and summer in NZ).
Auckland - Santiago - Rio (great weather and ready for Carnavale).
Summer in Iguazzu, Buenos Aires, Uruguay and Chile.
Quite warm in Bolivia, nice in Cuzco, Macchu Pichu, Arequipa (hiked the Colca Canyon), nice in Lima and great in Iquitos (and jungle lodges).
Early April in Cuba and late April in Yucatan (great weather still).
Into May and lovely in Miami and New Orleans, warm in Kentucky, warm in Washington, reasonable in NY.
Beautiful in Madrid then onto Rome for more nice weather and still not tourist high season.
Finished off in Bangkok for some R&R and back to work in the orifice.
Work it right and you can have the nicest weather, miss most of the tourist high seasons and bop across the Equator when desired.

Enjoy to the MAX

If I was to go west from Perth, I'd do South Africa and Namibia late January (summer), onto to Rio again (magic place), bits of South America I missed the last time (e.g. 4 day 4-wheel drive from San Pedro to Uyuni), probably boat Iquitos to Tatabinga then fly to Bogota. Isla Roques in Venezuela for the snorkelling, some more Carribean islands (not Cuba as the food was absolute crap and they charge in USD like wounded bulls), central Mexico and the canyons and into Arizona (great state). Frisco, Napa Valley in mid-spring for copious amounts of vino collapso, steal a Harley, throw my girlie on the back and hit the frog and toad to the greatest Harley bash in Sturgee?, check out Gettysburg for the history, back to the Smithsonian for 3 days of gob-smacking, NY for the restaurants and theatre, probably Venice in May via Madrid then Prague before coming back to Perth for a liver transplant.
Just an idea!!!
