Hi everyone, me and two friends are travelling to Mexico in June for 6 weeks and am completely clueless as to where to go! We are flying into Cancun and am planning on staying there for 2 nights, then am hoping to head down to Belize and Guatamala. If anyone has been to these places and can recomend the best way to travel down, and where to stay when in Belize and when in Cancun it would be much appreciated.

cancun is very nice, but i guess you will need more time to really enjoy the surroundings and the city and the shopping and clubs

you can take day tours that will take you to the archeological sites, or great scuba and snorkelling tours, in the afternoons there is plenty to see as well, like local shows, performances, restaurants, shopping...

but 2 days is almost nothing.

while in Belize itis the opposite, there it is just you and nature. Great for resting. Are you going to be in Belize city or the Keys?

Hi thanks for your reply, as we are slightly worrying now as we want to do so much but just don't have enough time! We're not really sure where about's in Belize to go, i heard the islands surrounding it are nice, so i think that is where we will be heading. It is just hard trying to decide what to see and what to miss out!!

Hello I'm mexican and Cancun is really a jewel you guys need to stay there for at least 1 week :) you can enjoy xcaret if you like to snorkel and see nature, entry there is not cheap but it worths the money for sure... you can also see ball game (an ancient kind of soccer game) and many cultural and natural beauties, the night show its full of mexican folcklore so you gonna like it! if you want I can help you in your trip, bye bye and have a good time there!

Hi rubens, I'm travelling Mexico for 2 months this summer. Do you have any tips on how to live cheaply in Mexico? We don't have a lot of money! Where do you think the best ancient ruins are?

Thanks, Tim.

I really agree with Rubens, I actually live in Cancun and I think if you're traveling for 6 weeks you will want to do at least a week in Cancun. The surrounding areas have a lot to offer. It's a lot more touristy than either Belize or Guatamala but the beach is fabulous and the nearby ruins and snorkeling shouldn't be missed.

Why spend a week in Cancun when Mexico has so many other fantastic places to see.
Only going to Cancun and saying you have been to Mexico is criminal in my eyes and its not even close to the real Mexico, its just a resort full of tourists and hell on earth if you ask me.
Everyone i have spoken to all agree that Cancun is hell although i have not been there yet i can already tell the closer you get to it the more touristy its getting.

Ive now spent 4 weeks and 3 days in Mexico and ive been to
Mexico City,San Miguel de Aleende,Guanajuato,Taxco,Puebla,Puerto Escondido,Oaxaca,San Cristobal de las Casas,Palenque,Campeche,Merida,Chichen Itza and Playa del Carmen.

Mexico has been awesome so far and i cant wait to come back, and the great news is some Mexican guys who have just started a hop on,hop off bus tour off Mexico have offered me a free tour of Mexico for whenever i want.

Get out of Cancun and see the real Mexico!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, Cancun is not the real Mexico because you are looking something diferent than the rest of Mexico, but it's the most beautiful place not only in Mexico maybe in the world, Mayan Culture wich is near to Cancun of course is something you need to see, Mexico is a mosaic, Puebla is different from D.F. or the north of the country, so don't even try to know all about Mexico, enjoy the trip! that's it! if you have time go to Cancun, Merida, Chichen Itza, Tulum, and if you have more time go to Tequila, Guadalajara, Tlaquepaque, Mexico City (D.F.), Puebla and Tlaxcala... it depends on what you want to see, how much money you have an many other factors... but please don't describe Cancun as the hell because if that is the hell... my God! I want to be with the devil forever :)
