We have 2 nights to relax after being out camping for almost 2 weeks. Does anyone have an opinion of whether Arusha or Moshi is a more interesting place to spend a day and a couple of nights. We are happy to hike, explore markets or just wander. We currently have a reservation at the Outpost Lodge in Arusha, but it looks like you can easily hike on trails at the base of Kiliminjaro, as well as get great views from Moshi. Does anyone know if that is true?
I am happy to be advised!
Moshi is nearer to Kili', and the place where a lot of the treks start from, so yes, the views will be better.
However, I think Arusha is the bigger town, so there might be more to do and see if you've only a couple of days to wander. And despite being 125km away, Kilimanjaro is still dominant on the horizon - that's where I got my first glimpse.
I too think arusha is a better place to stay, more to do and after two week camping you will wish to e-mail and perhaps go to a nice restaurant etc.
You could also do a hike at the Base of Mt Meru there is some good info on cultural tours in the Tourist office near to the clock tower.
Just one point, be carefull when coming -going to the outpost it is in a dark road and there have been a couple of oppertunist incidents like bag snacthing etc, much better take a taxi.
