I am from America looking to travel to Lebanon, I would like to know if anyone has advice for travel to that region. What is the attitude there towards Americans given the political strife in surrounding areas? Is it safe, or is there places to avoid? I read a warning issued by the State Department here, basically warning about travel there, is there any truth to it or is it just political fear propaganda?
I live in Lebanon (I am half Lebanese myself) and can assure you that there is no problem whatsoever in regards to your personal safety.
Lebanon is a pretty cool place in fact
I don't know if you have any previous knowledge of the things that you can do, but here is a small recap:
You have lots of Bars, Clubs and special events (Int'l DJs). You should check Mono Street in Beirut. Lebanese people like to party every day of the week... especially in Summer.
Nice Beaches around Beirut (Notrth and South)
Wonderful and diverse natural environment: Cedars, Pines, Bekaa Valley
Lots of Site seeing in a very small country: Baalbeck, Byblos, Tyro, Anjar, Fakra...
People are nice and helpful and most of them speack English.
The Only warning I can give you is that the southern border with Israel is a little volatile .
So hop in and enjoy
I love this country more than any other place in the world.....
I go there every year........
It's really a wonderful place....... you're gonna have lot of fun !!!!!!
