I wanted to be a cowboy until high school. I thought the cattle drives would be great fun and I could bring my own horse.
My sophomore though senior years, I thought a political science journalist would be great, but my parents disagreed.
At that time, I thought veterinarian would also be a good choice. But, having rarely opened a text book in high school, my grades sucked. I became a veterinary technician instead. I worked in the research field for many years. I also became a freelance graphic designer and earned extra income from that endeavor.
Now, I'm taking a real estate broker's course. A far cry from cowboy... But, that dream still isn't dead!

When l was really young i wanted to be a nurse then l decided why should l aim so low so l wanted to be a doctor - then l realised that l was crap at science and maths - sort of needed for a doctor, and as for the nurse well l realised that lm short on sympathy and my bedside manner wouldnt be that great!! I think l also fancied a doctor as nursing tended to be a female dominated world (back when l was a child!) and doctors all men - l have always been of the mind set women can do WHATEVER they want so l wanted to break into that stereotype!

So l sort of ended up doing a fluffy Arts degree, then a Masters in Admin & Law - lm realised lm quite analy organised so l went into management - but Customer Service Managment so l can help people yet l dont have to be nice and have a bedside manner! Oh and lve always worked in companies where the main body of the workforce has been male - construction of all things!! Men are so much easier to work with and for than women (l know cos lm a real bitch!! (only when l have to be!!)) - l can speak my mind with men and theres now grudge bearing and no gossiping either so you always know where you stand!

I should re-word that l dont have to be nice ALL the time - obviously customer service is all about providing good service but sometimes good service aint always good enough for folk cos folk being folk are sometimes out on the take!!

Been there - done that!!! I always ended up being the only female working within a group of men. I had to deal with women from other departments, but not as direct bosses or co-workers. (Thankfully!) Though, considering the times, it wasn't an easy thing to do - sexual harrassment hadn't come into play yet and the work place was a free-for-all at times. You either toughened up or moved on.

I think I'll see if they are holding try-outs for cowboys... Just me upon my pony on my boat...

I actually never want to grow up.

As someone famous once said, I want to grow old disgracefully

I actually never want to grow up.

Who does?!

When do you feel grown up? I'm 26 and I don't really feel any different to when I was 16, just much wiser, happier and more confident. There are certain things that make me feel like a grown-up, like filling my car with petrol, and buying insurance and stuff like that. Owning a box with screwdrivers and stuff!

James, did becoming a Dad make you feel more grown-up?
