We were poor Jase. At one point, we had to lay one of the servants off to pay our country club membership. Yes, times were hard.

You people must be from rich stock, we had to take our own sandwiches for lunch - no school dinners

No, I'm just Swedish - we're socialists, didn't you know?! ;)

Guys/Gals, let's try and keep this thread on topic... (yes, even though it's in the Off Topic forum!) it's been one of the better ones for getting to know other members and a great place for a new member to post without being overwhelmed with the number of posts that go in different directions

I am studying medicine and as soon as I am finished I want to go to NZ and work there-and if I am able to leave that beautiful country again I want to go to many different places all over the world and work as a doctor.
Any suggestions what kind of doctor is needed everywhere in the world

General Practitioners are on the decline almost everywhere. Most medical students realize there is more income in specializing and usually "directed" toward specializing once they do their internships and residencies. Especially in more rural areas, GPs are definitely needed.

If you are interested in working in the more impoverished areas/countries, then General Practitioners, Pediatricians, and Neonatologists are in high demand.

Oh, so you're the one I can blame for lack of service on my flights! I just sit there quietly in my seat, not bothering anyone and I'm invisible to the flight attendants. No food, no drinks, nothing. Beerman always has to point out that my seat really isn't empty - I'm sitting in it! (Seriously, I'll be the invisible passenger sitting behind you.)

What airline do you work for Miriam? If I ever use them, I'll hold up a sign so you know I'm really there! ;)

Hahaha... yes, that must be me!! I have to say, if you really are that quiet you have just become my favourite passenger ever!

I work for a charter airline, part of a holiday company (First Choice Airways, by the way), which means that unfortunately not many of my flights are quiet (especially this time of the year, when the passenger average date of birth was during the late nineties!)

But dont worry, no need for a sign. If you ever fly with me i'll recognise you!! You'll be the one seating next to the guy that finished the beer from the trolley!!

How come they serve the meal just when I need to go to the toilet?

Because we have little sensors in the passengers seats telling us when they need to go to the toilet, so we can piss them off and serve the meal then... didnt you know??

And yes, we are called trolley dollies
and yes, airline food sucks... Im trying to introduce mediterranean diet on board, but is difficult to beat the charms of the "chicken or beef" sentence....
