Hey Everyone,

I just uploaded some new pages last night that I thought I would let you know about. They aren't officially 'live' yet as you can't find the link anywhere else but here. Anyway, it's a simple (very simple) postcard kind of sending thing sending any of the photos on this site to the email address selected. Actually, it sends a notification and the card has to be picked up but I guess most people are familiar with the concept.

For now, to access the pages to create and pick up the card you have to be logged in (this will change when they go live) as a Travellerspoint member.

The starting link is I would be keen to hear your feedback, good or bad. I still have some work to do on them, primarily some layout kind of stuff as well as where to tie it in exactly.... let me know what you think!

Hi Sam!

This is a good idea.

I have tried sending an e-postcard to myself. I got the email "You have received a greeting card!" twice.... Maybe you should check.
Then I went to the link to view the card. Then in my inbox I got an email telling me that my card has been picked up.... oh twice also.

I suggest that you don't make us log in to PICK UP the postcard. We might want to send the postcard to our friends or family who are not members of this site. (Can you make it that way also for the travel diary?)

The thumbnail view (when we have to choose which one) will be better if the pictures are center-aligned. The one i saw was left aligned so firstly I thought there was a white space at the right side of the postcard. Well it's not crucial but pretty disturbing

Anyway, make it alive, I agree with this e-postcard thing. Thanks for your effort in improving the features of this cool site.

Hi zags,

Thanks for the feedback.

Yes, the log in will change when it comes to PICK UP of the card. There will have to be some kind of code needed however as otherwise everyone could just randomly start reading cards/email addresses etc. Might just do the email address.

I'll look into that twice thing too. Might have been happening when I was doing it as well but I sent so many test ones that I lost track of the emails ;)

Good point on the alignment; still definitely some work to do when it comes to the layout.

With all the great photography on this site though it would be a shame not to have this feature set up! Unfortunately my up and coming wedding is keeping me pretty busy (well, it's also a good thing of course!) but it's on my 'to do' list!!!

Sam - great idea.

My suggestions are:

- choose country from drop-down box or list box.
- include the username of the travel point member who sent in the photo. You have 5 of mine from London! By the way, I have some more of Paris to send in.

That's all!

Hi James,

Both great ideas and both will be done! :)

Oh! Sam, your wedding will be on 23rd of June, right? Must be very busy now.. Congratulations (in advance)!

james - that's nice to include the username who submitted the photo to this site... There are 4 of mine here, too

Not far off there, the 26th of June it is.... exciting (and busy) times right now :)

Yes, the username of the photo submitter was definitely a good idea that hadn't even come to mind yet...

Hey Sam,

What about just using the full name of the member who sent the picture...

Happy preparing for the wedding..!

Hey Sam,

I tried out the postcard and one small point I sent it to a guy but the system came back saying it had been sent to 'HER' ...........just something small......besides that I agree with the other comments about having the photographers name somewhere on the postcard, after all credit where credit is due !!
