I think that all the cities are danderous if you aren't careful.
I have stayed at crakow last year and, out of the cetre isn't very friendly city.

I agree with you Mauro,each city can be dangerouse...
Just be careful:)And I think that you will like Łódź.

In my opinion you have had a not like experience in Lodz but it has been a chance...because other many people tell me nice things about Lodz.
However thanks for your Septembere I will be in Lodz and I will can tell you if you have all right.
And however I'm for sure that in Lodz there are a lot of students and I don't think that they are always at home, maybe you have not the right companies to go out in Lodz.

I am sure that with other students you will spend nice time:),polish students are friendly and I am sure that you will like them:).Łódź isn't such beautiful or nice as Kraków,Warsaw,Gdańsk f.ex but I think that you can go to this cities on trips and I think that in Łódź you'll find something intresting for you:)

There are a lot of students here in Lodz, many foreign exchange students as well. Plenty of things to do and see, interesting museums, a lot of pubs and clubs to have fun in.
Regarding the dangers - it's just as in any other big city, if you keep walking the main streets, and don't enter dark alleys after dark, nothing bad will happen to you. The police security has been tightened as well, so have no fears.
