Satun is a small harbor town...about 2 hours from Hatyai...predominantly Muslim population...

Visitors go to Satun as it is a take off point for trip to Ko Tarutao & koh Andang -splendid marine park - and for ferry ride to Langkawi...Other than dove farms, Tale Ban national park, some waterfalls and caves, there is nothing much to see in satun. One good hotel there - pinnacle hotel wangmai...To get there, u take bus from Hatyai or songkla...

Langkawi Ferry service operates four trips a day, last trip about 4.30pm daily...it is about RM25 per person, and takes one and half hours or so...no hassle with immigration formalities at both sides. on arriving at Kuah in Langkawi, take a short walk to town, from where you can take bus to beach areas.

of course, u can also get to langkawi from kuala kedah, kuala perlis. but the former is a better option...direct to langkawi, instead of bus ride from hatya, then ferry to langkawi...and the time spent!
