Satun is a small harbor town...about 2 hours from Hatyai...predominantly Muslim population...

Visitors go to Satun as it is a take off point for trip to Ko Tarutao & koh Andang -splendid marine park - and for ferry ride to Langkawi...Other than dove farms, Tale Ban national park, some waterfalls and caves, there is nothing much to see in satun. One good hotel there - pinnacle hotel wangmai...To get there, u take bus from Hatyai or songkla...

Langkawi Ferry service operates four trips a day, last trip about 4.30pm is about RM25 per person, and takes one and half hours or hassle with immigration formalities at both sides. on arriving at Kuah in Langkawi, take a short walk to town, from where you can take bus to beach areas.

of course, u can also get to langkawi from kuala kedah, kuala perlis. but the former is a better to langkawi, instead of bus ride from hatya, then ferry to langkawi...and the time spent!
