Quoting CloudStrife

Terry and Travelman. When we flew from Dublin last week my wife's ticket had SS on it. It meant she was checked more at than anyone else. I'm going to assume this was random as she has never has a run in with the law anywhere. But my question is would this check go as far as the US checking her background or just the normal airport staff?

Thanks

There's no way to know for sure what was checked, but since your wife has never had a run-in with the law it's immaterial. Don't waste one second worrying about this.

Enjoy your trip.

Cheers,
Terry

SS or SSSS does not mean Interpol checks, is simply means extra back screening, enhanced pat downs and extra questions or proof of trave required.

Interpol backchecks are not routine, and will usually only be carried out if you've been arrested whilst in the US.

Terry, what do you think about this http://www.computerweekly.com/news/1280090519/UK-to-share-fingerprint-data-with-other-countries

Henry - Firstly have you seen the date this was written? Secondly, if you click on the link, it goes to a dead page on the home office website.

This was obviously something that never took off, or, is bullshit. Even so, it stated that finger prints would only cause alarm if they matched up with another country. i.e, someone got arrested in the states using a stolen passport, and then tried to enter another country where they are also wanted.

Wow that's great that he got issued a 10 year visa Lucretia, it's reassuring to hear although I'm still worried that we are going to be denied. We are still waiting to hear back, although our interview was only in May so will update here to let you all know the outcome :)

Lucretia - Thanks so much for coming back and telling us. Please remind us of the conviction/caution was again, and how long ago it was, and also how long it took to process.

Thanks!
