I'm a 19 year old Austrian girl heading off to AUS in July and will stay there until November.
I'm travelling by myself so I was wondering if anyone else is travelling to Melbourne by that time?
Or anyone living there I'd be very pleased to get a few suggestions from u guys...
Thanks a lot
Hi there Steph.
I live in Melbourne, and it's a great city to live in for that long
I think you would want to be in a hip and happening part of town with lots of things to do. I have 3 suggestions for you.. Brunswick/Carlton if you like a wide variety of cafes and eclectic shops and lots of small venues for music etc. St.Kilda if you like to be by the beach, and has lots of cafes and entertainment venues. Or Prahan if you like your fashion and exclusive cafes.
All these suburbs are very close to the central business district.
I live in Brunswick, and I love it here.. there's always something to do, and a different cafe cuisine to pick something to eat. I rarely cook i am so spoiled for good value food.
July to November is our Winter, so don't forget to bring some nice warm clothes, although it would be much warmer than an Austrian winter Usually between 2 degrees C and 13 degrees in Winter. It doesn't snow in the city, but if it does it melts quick !
Hope that helps, enjoy my city
I was in Melbourne in February for a month and returning on boxing day for another month(my brother stays there. I loved the city and look forward to moving permanently one day. I stayed near St. Kilda and thought it was fab as the beach is a big attraction for me. Make sure you go to Great Ocean Road it is gorgeous! Enjoy your time away.
