I reckon it would be easiest to catch a flight with westjet to get there and back. if you have 3-5 people it might be fun to rent a car, but you are looking at like 30some hours of driving and gas so it might not be cheapest. Train is also not too too cheap.
If you have the time you could have a go at hitchhiking... I know some truck drivers deliver from Ontario to BC sometimes... There is really only one road going west once you get to Norther Ontario.
The cost and vast distance is probably why I have never made it out to the west coast (I live in London, near Toronto)...

Hi Mista,
I checked flights, the cheepest is aircanada for around 630,
I don't mind spending days on the road, hitchhiking is a bit to risky (who knows if I'll ever arrive). I thought there might be a website of people sharing cars, something similar to allostop in quebec....

I agree with what the other posts say, though I wouldnt recomend hitchhicking. You could also try by bus, like PCL. They usually are decently priced and stop all the time. Flying is probably the cheapest and the fastest, though driving would be the most intersting. It really depends on how you want to see the country or if you want to see it at all.

If I were you, I would take trains for shorter distances (like Mtl-Toronto) and maybe rideshare for longer distances. It would be a shame to just fly over Canada as the diversity of landscapes cannot be fully appreciated from way up high. The Canadian Rockies, in particular, are spectacular up close. Gives you a real sense of their size - and yours too.

HITCHIKING!

It would be a shame to miss the Canadian Rockies- one of my all time favorite places in the world...and if you gt there check out Moraine Lake- much more beautiful than lake louise in my opinion!!!
