hello,

i was wondering if you have to be 18 to apply for a visa or could you be younger and just receive it when you turn 18. also how long does it take to receive your visa?

Hello there,

Ive also asked this question and found out that you need to actually apply when your 18 you cant do it before hand. and it tends to take around 1/2 weeks for the visa to come through it most cases.

The first page of the WHV application reads as follows:

"I am aged between 18 and 30 years (inclusive); and
I have no dependant children."

If you cannot answer yes to either of those questions, then you cannot proceed with the application. But, it might be a good idea to contact the Australian consulate in your country to ask that question.

In regards to your question about processing time ... My WHV application was processed within two days, and my fiance's (whose, by the way, we applied for on the very day we recieved his passport!) was issued within 12 hours! And we applied for ours during the so-called busy season!

You should have no trouble getting one as soon as you're 18. Apply on your birthday and use all your birthday money to pay the fee
