Can anyone give me a rough guide on how much it costs to do sports in NZ? I'm buying the Kiwi Experience bus pass.
Would like to:
1) Jump out of an aeroplane (tandom dive or sky dive is it?)
2) Bungee jump (ahh!)
3) Hang glide
4) Whale watch
5) Walk Franz Josef fox glacier
6) Canoe/kayak in Paihia bay of islands
7) Do they do any package deals?

Your wisdom would help loads! thanx

Hi Jen,

I hope this information will help. This is a rough idea. The price depends on the season, company and location.

1) Jump out of an aeroplane (tandom dive or sky dive is it?)
9000feet-NZ$210 12000f-$240 13000f- $260 (all tandom)

2) Bungee jump (ahh!)
NZ$-99 solo ,some have special- $69 each for tandom(a friend and u together) again the price depends on location.

3) Hang glide
Hill lounch- $160 Tow lounch- $80

4) Whale watch
Kaikoura(where I live)-$125 80% refund if u dont see any.95% success rate.

5) Walk Franz Josef fox glacier
half day- $65 Full day(8-9 hours)- $95

6) Canoe/kayak in Paihia bay of islands
3 days-$450 5 days- $750 10 days- $1500 includes everything.
Personally I recommend Kayaking in the Abel Tasman national park in the south island- 3 days guided- $310 uncatered ,$410 catered

7) Do they do any package deals? Yes but u have to check it when u get here with each company.

Well, if u need anymore information let me know.Ralon

When I was in NZ the price of a skydive varied all over the country but the cheapest was at Taupo where a skydive from 12,000 feet cost $195.

That was a couple of years ago so it'll probably be a bit more now, but I would guess that Taupo is still the cheapest place to do it. It was over a crater lake as well, so it was a really nice view (although to be honest you're not particularly thinking about the view as you fall through the sky).

I'm still living in NZ and I can confirm that the Taupo Tandem Skydive is still the cheapest. I did it about 2 yrs ago and now it is just 5$ or so more. Definitely do the Whalewatch in kaikoura!!!!! Don't save your money in this case!!!

Also, while you're in Kaikoura I would totally recommend flying an aeroplane. I think I paid about $100 for a lesson in a 2 seater which was a total buzz (they normally use a 4 seater but it was out of action when I was there).

Again, it was a couple of years ago so the price may have gone up slightly, but it was one of the best things I did in NZ.
