big, multicultural city + beaches = Sydney!

Though Melbourne appealed more to me. It's very friendly for studies. You'll find plenty of international students there. Found Sydney a little 'messy' and the pace of life is much faster, more immigrants.

Hello! I was reading your comments, and they are great!, and very helpful. I fact I am looking for Australian information, cities to live, due we are planning to migrate there from South America, we are on law process now, but we need to star to get as much possible information about options to live. Wheter it's important to consider, but if I have to choose between Cold and Hot, I rather cold!, we are a young family of three members, with one little girl of 5 years old, so our needs are focused on a peaceful place, ideal for kids and family, not a big city, close to nature, and easy access for jobs areas...I have heard about Adelaide?.. but I would appreciate all information that any of you can bring me... also if you have information about aprox. cost of live for a family house, house expenses, salaries Tax rates?.. I really hope to get some feedback on this regards.-
Any suggestion or comments, will be great! Thanks! Veronica;)

i`ve lived in brisbane melbourne and sydney and all except for sydney i really enjoyed (sydney people are a little bit different - i like them but you need to be really patient) i would recomend adelaide or brisbane, yeah they are smaller but they have a far better student/youth culture. out of these two it really coes down to the weather - if u r like me and u need a bit of warmth all year round then brisbane is the pick. HOWEVER u should think about perth - i have never in my life heard anyone say anything bad about perth and the people are really friendly (prtty much all of australia is a frindy place but perth more so). I`m sure u will have a blast wherever u choose to go - maybe u can study in a few differen cities over the 3 years

In terms of Brisbane it's fairly multicultural depending on which suburb you live in, and it's small enough to have a lower crime rate than other cities. Not many tourists either, compared to Melbourne or Sydney. It's close to the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast, so you can head there on the weekends.

Brisbane is much hotter and more humid than Sydney or Melbourne, so if you can't handle heat, then it's probably not the best choice. I lived in Brisbane for 3 years and found it was a nice size, you often run into people you know in the city.
