my plans are a little hazy right now but here we go.....
i am due to be in berlin for 5 nights from june 10th but i want to go somewhere sunny for a week or so beforehand, my heart is set on the southern dalmation coast, probably dubrovnik, my only concern is how to get from dubrovnik to berlin. flying looks like it will be too expensive. anyone have any experience of travelling in this area, by train or bus. as direct a route as possible would be preferable.

thanks

You can go from Zagreb to Munich by train and then get a train from Munich to Berlin, I strongly doubt there is a direct train to Berlin so that's the most direct route I imagine. It'll cost about 150 Euros - you can check train times at this site http://www.bahn.de/-S:PtVOZ9:eSg4GtNNsEqBZdNNNXZM/p/view/index.shtml

I thought the bus company Eurolines might be an option for you. But a single trip from Croatia to Berlin costs around 100 EUR. If you don't find a cheaper possibility you can check www.eurolines.de
cheers,

i have been looking more at the service that eurolines run, have also found some other bus lines, i guess if i'm not sure of my plans until late on then i will have to expect to pay about 100 euros. now looking at stopping off in slovenia on the way up, looks like there is a service direct to berlin from ljubljana.

If there is a direct train service from Ljubljana to Berlin that'd be great because I know Ljubljana is very connected with Zagreb. Every day, there are multiple trains (about 12 euros and 2-1/2 hrs) running between the two cities.

glad to find out that there is a cheap and regular service between zagreb and ljublijana, thanks. (i need to learn how to spell ljublijana without stopping to check after every one or two letters! :))
