The CSS Reboot has also gone live now - for those of you who feel the urge, you can rate our design on this page

There's no prizes to be won for rating the highest, but hey, it's always nice to get a few votes ;)

Quoting Isadora

Hey S&P!

I do have one comment about the RSS feed display page. I've looked at it using both Safari and Firefox. (Yup, downloaded the latest version of FF.) The page is great when viewed in Safari - nice layout. But with Firefox, the information is there, just one continuous line of text. Maybe it's just me because I'm on the Mac, but it's not pretty.... (Sorry!) Do I not have something set up correctly in FF?

Magic buttons aren't as shiny and pretty in FF either, but that's beside the point. :(

By the way G, I never use those actual pages (I assume you're looking at http://www.travellerspoint.com/feeds/forum/all.xml for example for the 'All Threads' forum?). I just look for the orange little icon in the address bar (for the same feed for example it would be on http://www.travellerspoint.com/forum.cfm?ForumID=111). Click on that and it will add it as a live bookmark. This is what I prefer as you can then check the new feeds regardless of what site you're on etc. You can also do this on safari by the way, but it's an extra click away. I've never gotten into using safari though...

Love the look.
I'm a bit lost without the frames on the thead posts though.
But apart from that great job !!!!
Keep up the good work

Looks good.

I really like the new front page and the profiles. They look very slick. I like the organization of the travel logs. And I like that the blog and forum entries are linked from the "destination" areas.

A few small points of potentiall improvement, if you so choose. Some (if not all) of these may be because I am using IE

  • On the Travel Forums page that lists all the forum categories, the length of the titles and category descriptions expands as far as the length of the description, which looks weird when the post counts don't line up. Hard to describe, so I uploaded a picture of it. Here's the pic: LINK TO PIC
  • In the photo gallery, photos are showing up misaligned. See picture uploaded here. The photos are not lined up, and descriptions can appear beside or below the photo.
  • When viewing threads in the forum, I find it somewhat crowded. Perhaps alternating the background colour for every other thread would make it clearer, or a faint line between each thread to delinate between threads
  • Within a thread, I think a stronger line between posts would make it clearer where one post ends and another starts
  • In posts, the name and title of the poster is centered vertically in the post. For very long posts, this means that sometimes the name and title of the poster is not on the screen when you start reading. I think top justifying the name would be better.
  • The bullets here don't show up very distinctly - the light blue on white almost fades to nothing on my LCD screen
  • The forums seem to load slower than before.

I really do like the new look, even though my list is long. But it's all small stuff.

Greg

Thanks Sam! I see what you mean!

Maybe you should give Safari a chance... It's not that bad... It's kinda pretty in it's own way... Granted Firefox uses more colors (something I LOVE) but I'm an old horse and change comes slowly... (Look how long it took for me to switch from IE!)

Pete, after I departition, I will download the items you recommended. The fear factor is high and the departitioning will be attempted after a good night's sleep and with finger's crossed. (I'll have it done by the time that "new" forum is designed - you know the one - mine!)

Aaaahhhh, BAD ISA!!!! Sorry about the last post - I forgot to log out and log back in after Beerman was done commenting in another forum! (I am him and he is me and we are all together - coocoo-cachoo!) One computer - dual personality...
